Campbell Newman proposes new standard of proof for Queensland courts – The Tunnel presents….

So now he wants to change the standard of proof!

So it will no longer be that you can be found guilty only if the evidence shows that it is beyond a reasonable doubt to a more everyone knows principle.

Basically in the case of assault or abuse, the evidence doesn’t have to prove that it did happen beyond a reasonable doubt, but that if it looks like it did and everyone would think that it did happen then you are guilty!

Mr Newman said that courts should instead adopt a simpler and more emotionally satisfying ‘everybody knows’ principle.

Police will no longer have to spend hours and effort collecting evidence. This would reduce the time and length of trials.

But the question remains how many innocent people will be proven guilty, when they really are not.

While this is a Satirical news article, I wonder how long until he does try to do just this.

Already we see the laws changing because he isn’t winning. How long until he also changes how much proof is needed?
